Welcome to Milford Driving School!

If you are a teen or the parent of a teen, you've come to the right place. We have classes, on-the-road lessons (7 days a week), and DMV required courses to fill everyone's needs. Navigate our site, see what's available, leave an email if you need more information, or sign up on the spot and be assured a place in one of our up-coming classes. If you want to find a good driving school in New York, I would advise you to visit the Queens area, that's where you can find a 5 hour class in jamaica Queens in a good driving school.

Directions to Milford Driving School -
415 Boston Post Road
Milford CT 06460

FROM I-95 NORTHBOUND: Take Exit 36 "Plains Road." Turn RIGHT off the exit onto Plains Road. Follow Plains Road to the Boston Post Road (US Route 1).  Turn left and follow US1.The driving school is about 1/4 mile on the right - the second driveway beyond the FORD STREET traffic signal. Make a RIGHT turn into our driveway. (415 Post Road) NOTE: We are directly across the POST ROAD from the CONE ZONE ice cream shop and the Milford POLICE STATION.
FROM I-95 SOUTHBOUND: Take exit 36 "Plains Road". Turn LEFT off the exit ramp - then follow the same directions for NORTHBOUND traffic given above.

From  the MERRITT & WILBUR CROSS Parkways - Connecticut Route 15 (North or South): Get on the Milford Parkway Connector. If you are traveling NORTHBOUND your exit would be Exit 54 just after the Sikorsky bridge over the Housatonic River (stay in the RIGHT lane which is an EXIT ONLY).
If you are traveling SOUTHBOUND your exit would be Exit 54 onto the Milford Parkway Connector. Please note that there are TWO exits only 1/4 mile apart (55 and 54). DO NOT take 55 onto Wheelers Farms Road.
For BOTH directions: follow the Milford Parkway Connector until you go UNDER the interchange bridge with I95. There will be TWO exits onto the POST ROAD (US 1) - take the FIRST exit on your right - which will be US1B SOUTHBOUND. There is a STOP SIGN at the end of a short ramp. Drive straight  ahead to the US1 traffic signal. Turn to the RIGHT. Follow US1 to the next traffic signal (a major intersection with a "7-11 Store" on your left). Go straight across this intersection and stay in the LEFT LANE. Our driveway is 1/4 mile on the LEFT after the intersection. NOTE: look for the CONE ZONE and the Milford POLICE STATION mentioned in the directions above. (The ice cream shop is CLOSED during the winter season - and may be hard to spot in the dark. But it is directly after the Milford POIICE STATION on your right.)
TIP: IF ATTENDING A CLASS THAT IS MANDATORY (SUCH AS NATIONAL SAFETY COUNCIL  FOR RE-
TRAINING OR DRUG & ALCOHOL FOR INITIAL LICENSING) - A CLASS YOU MUST ATTEND - CONSIDER PRE-DRIVING THE ROUTE AHEAD OF TIME TO ASSURE YOU KNOW THE WAY HERE.

USEFUL INFORMATION FOR THE DIRECTIONS ON THIS PAGE
Over many years we have had to give students verbal directions to get to our school. Most of this has been on the phone, and with the advent of mobile communication, we have frequently had to "talk" a driver to our school and into the parking lot.
Therefore, here are some useful tips to make getting to a class easier and less stressful:

  • If you are attending an EVENING class at a time of the year when darkness comes early: ALWAYS leave early enough (if possible) to avoid the stress of getting "lost"! It's tough enough to attend an evening class, after a full day of work, without the unnecessary extra stress. Fatigue leads to mistakes!
  • If you have a GPS device - use it. Make certain that you have had enough experience using one of these electronic devices to be able to drive your vehicle safely while following the verbal instructions.
  • If you DO get "lost" - call us (203 878 0918). If we can do so, we will help you arrive here safely.
  • If you are from out of the area - or are NOT familiar with the NAMES of the roads, it is easy to become "lost". So, here are some TIPS...the BOSTON POST ROAD (that is, Federal Highway 1 - US1) is called the same thing in the town of ORANGE. If you are on US1 and go too far toward NEW HAVEN you WILL be on the BOSTON POST ROAD - but in the town of ORANGE. There are numbers in the "400's" in ORANGE - but you will NOT be in MILFORD!
  • Also - if you are NOT familiar with the area and are on US1 coming from the Stratford/Bridgeport direction...please note that when you cross the Washington Bridge over the Housatonic River and enter the DEVON section of Milford - you are NOT on the Boston Post Road...you are on BRIDGEPORT AVENUE. You must continue through DEVON Center and follow US1 to the point where CT Route 162 splits off to the right (there are visible signs to guide you). Reference Point: STOP&SHOP is on the right and easily visible from the road. STAY ON US1 - the two left lanes are US1. At this point you are ONE MILE from the school driveway - which will be on the RIGHT. (see directions for: "From I95 NORTHBOUND" for details).
